Tallahassee RollerGirls (TRG) is a melting pot of women and men working together to make up Tallahassee’s first and only roller derby league since 2006. We aim to be inclusive in all areas of our sport! If you want to skate on the track as a player or as a referee, we have a place for you! If you want to join in the party every game day as a volunteer, we have a place for you! If you want to come to every game and catch the action (fondly referred to as SuperFAN), we have a place for you!
We are not paid for our time or commitment to our community, but we do so for the love of the sport. TRG strives to make Tallahassee proud to be its one and only roller derby team.
TRG consists of one competitive, traveling team and two intramural teams. Our “all star” team is Capital Punishment, this team represents our WFTDA charter and WFTDA ranking by playing teams from all over the globe. In celebration of our 10th anniversary season, TRG introduced two intramural “home” teams, for some home town rivalry and competition. The Sinators and the Legiskators teams are drafted to include members of the league with every skill and experience level – it’s up to you to decide if you’re pulling for blue or red! All of our teams are a rag tag group of skaters who live and breathe the physical and mental game of roller derby, if you are ready to join, we are ready too!
Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA)
Founded in 2004, the WFTDA promotes and fosters the sport of women’s flat track derby by facilitating the development of athletic ability, sportswomanship, and goodwill among member leagues. The governing philosophy is “by the skaters, for the skaters.” Women skaters are primary managers and operators of each member league and of the association. Operational tasks include setting standards for rules, seasons, and safety, and determining guidelines for the national and international athletic competitions of member leagues.
