Calling all SC roller derby leagues! The Tallahassee RollerGirls are holding an open Black & White Scrimmage on August 18th in Tallahassee, FL and we really want YOU to come! We are looking to not only foster relationships with our fellow derby leagues that we may not normally get to play, but are looking to help support the growth of safe and competitive derby in our area, and what better way to do that than to scrimmage and learn from each other? Aside from growing as skaters, we also want to use this as a time to help our referees and officials grow as well. So all referees and officials are also welcome to attend to get as much bouting experience as possible.

For those of who who have never participated in black & white scrimmages, it is simple. Everyone brings a black shirt with your number on it, and a white shirt with your number on it. There are two lines: a black shirt line and a white shirt line. Every jam... the next five skaters in each line go. It is easy as that!!

We are looking at charging $10 per skater and free for referee to come and participate. That same night our very own Jailbreak Betties will be playing the Mississippi Rollergirls... so if you are interested in staying for that game we are offering a special! For $20 you can come participate in the scrimmage and get into the game! For those refs who would like to stay for the game it will be $10.

The current scrimmage timeline looks like this:

• Noon to 1:00pm - Check-in, open skate, and whatever else you need to do
• 1:00pm to 3:00pm Black & White Scrimmages
• Doors for the game 6:30pm
• Main bout starts 7:00pm

As far as skaters who are eligible for the scrimmages, you must have passed your minimum skills test and must have USARS insurance. If you do not have USARS insurance, but have WFTDA you will have to buy a single day pass from USARS for $20.

We would really love to see girls of all skill levels from all leagues attend so please consider this as a great opportunity for a multitude of reasons: To meet and network with leagues from all over the state(s) (2013 season planning is starting), to get more bouting experience in, to get more reffing/officiating experience in, to learn from skaters of all skill levels (including a few top ranked WFTDA and WFTDA Apprentice teams), and finally... just another chance to PLAY MORE DERBY!!
