Our January Member of the Month is #42, Resting Hit Face!
Congratulations to Resting Hit Face who recently passed her 27/5 laps test after months of training and dedication. Passing this final piece of the WFTDA minimum skills requirements qualifies Resting Hit Face to play in sanctioned games with the Tallahassee RollerGirls.
Resting Hit Face joined TRG in September of 2015. Knowing nothing about roller derby before starting, she just woke up one day and decided she wanted to give it shot, and she’s been with us ever since.
In 2017, RHF joined Team Zebra as a referee in order to be part of game day, increase her time on skates, and learn the game from a new perspective.
“I think being able to recognize a penalty and call it from the outside makes me more conscious of myself as a skater,” she said. “Now that I’ve qualified, I’m taking a step back from reffing, but willing to be a part of Team Zebra if necessary.”
Her derby name is a pun on Resting Bitch Face, which she says she suffers from. In fact, her favorite thing about TRG is that she can truly be herself, “mean face” and all. “I don’t feel the need to censor or tone down anything about myself, and they still let me come play with them anyway,” she said.
Outside of derby, she puts the “rest” in Resting Hit Face by trying to sleep whenever she can. She also enjoys traveling.
RHF is looking forward to delivering some good hits and bring home strong wins in the 2019 season as one of our newest qualified skaters.
