Our MVP of the Month is Sweet Kay Oz (# 2012), who has been with TRG since 2011! She can certainly bring some “sweet chaos” to the track. But don't let her name fool you because her hits and blocks are anything but sweet (unless sweet means awesome and amazing!), and she brings chaos to the other teams when she is in action.

Always a great motivator to her teammates on and off the track, she will be greatly missed for she will be leaving Tallahassee to continue her education in a more specialized field of law in California. Read on to find out more about your MVP of the Month for July 2012!

What's a typical day or week like for you?
Law school, school work, bout/practice, repeat (before graduating from law school in May 2012). Now studying for the bar exam, bout/practice, repeat.

With such a busy life what keeps you motivated with roller derby?
I love it! Roller derby is the best outlet, and it has really helped keep me (relatively) sane through law school. It is great to have something in your life that you feel you can control your improvement in, not to mention the love, support, challenge, and camaraderie that TRG has to offer!

What is your skate gear of choice?
Riedell 265s with Revenge plates, 187 Killer Knees with Gladiator knee gaskets, Triple 8 RD Wristsavers, and custom mouth guard from Mama Stone.

Who are your roller derby heroes?
My roller derby heroes are those that get out there, show no fear, and take names. Anyone who works hard and sticks with it is good in my book. But most of all, I love and respect the awesome women of TRG!

Do you have a motivational quote?
Keep Truckin’.

Do you have a signature move?
I don’t know about a signature move…But, I love me some wrecking ball action!

Do you have any advice for anyone who is thinking about joining roller derby?
Do it! Know that it will be hard, but if you really want it that you can do it!

What animal do you think describes you?
One-eyed, one-horned flying purple people eater.

Anyone you'd like to take the opportunity to thank?
My family and friends who have always been supportive of this roller derby craziness as well as my biggest fan, Mr. Kay Oz, and all my supportive, beautiful, awesome, tough teammates. And, of course, all the fans, refs, and NSOs (non-skating officials) who make it all possible!
