What year did you join TRG?

I work in an Emergency Room studying critical care. My career goals are to work with neonate sand pediatrics. Outside of work and Derby I spend my time with my Boxer and enjoy gardening and anything that gets me sweaty and dirty.
Prior athletic background?
Tennis in high school, yoga and kickboxing outside of skating.
How did you get into roller derby?
I went to a bout with former TRG player Sweet Kay Ozs husband and got hooked! I’ve been tryin my best to be a good derby player ever since.
After my first injury in 2012 I was eager to get back on the track and proved hard work and determination by winning The Come Back Kid award. But my favorite so far is receiving MVP Jammer for the Betties in 2014. Jamming is hard work and I’m honored to be able to continue to put in the work for this team. Here’s to many more!
What is an unexpected way derby has impacted your life?
I am quite the introvert so derby has helped me with my self confidence, communication, and appreciation for relationships with others. I feel more outgoing thanks to derby. It has also given me a new found love and respect for other sports and becoming an athlete.
What is one piece of advice you would give to newer league members or those who are thinking about joining roller derby?
Give 100% in everything you do. If you only give half you’ll only get half back. Work hard and push yourself through your insecurities and fears. You can have anything you put your heart, mind, and effort into.
